Privacy Statement
This statement explains what personal data JEMUR collects, why it is collected, who can see it, and what rights you have. It covers both the journal website (jemur.org) and the submission and review system (ojs.jemur.org).
What we collect
When you create an account in the submission system we collect your name, email address, affiliation, country and, if you choose to provide it, your ORCID iD. When you submit a manuscript we also store the manuscript files and any information you enter about co-authors, funding, and competing interests.
We do not collect payment information of any kind, because JEMUR charges no fees.
Why we collect it
The data is used solely to operate the journal: to identify authors and reviewers, to manage peer review, to correspond with you about your submission, and to publish accepted articles with correct attribution. It is never sold, rented, or used for advertising, and it is not shared with third parties for their own purposes.
Email verification
New accounts must be confirmed through a link sent to the email address you provide. Accounts that are not verified within 14 days are removed automatically.
Who can see your data
Editors and journal staff can see the information associated with your account and submissions. Peer review is double-anonymous: reviewers are not shown author identities, and authors are not shown reviewer identities. Reviewer names are never published.
What becomes public
If your article is accepted and published, the following becomes public: author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs where supplied, the title, abstract, keywords, and the full text. This information is also included in the article metadata that we send to indexing and identifier services so that your work can be found and cited. These include the DOI registry, and harvesters that collect our metadata through the OAI-PMH interface.
Published articles are archived permanently in the LOCKSS and CLOCKSS preservation networks. Because publication is a matter of scholarly record, published articles and their metadata cannot be withdrawn on request; corrections and retractions follow established publishing ethics procedures instead.
Cookies
The journal website (jemur.org) sets no cookies and contains no advertising, analytics, or social media tracking scripts.
The submission system (ojs.jemur.org) sets a single session cookie that is required to keep you logged in. It is removed when your session expires and is not used for tracking.
Usage statistics
The submission system records aggregated statistics about article views and downloads, including an approximate geographic location derived from the network address. These figures are aggregated and are not used to identify individual readers.
Storage and security
Data is stored on the journal's own server. Access is limited to the editorial team and the technical administrator. Connections to both jemur.org and ojs.jemur.org are encrypted.
Your rights
You may view and correct the information in your account at any time through your profile in the submission system. You may also ask us to provide a copy of your data or to delete your account, subject to the limits on published material described above.
